Meet the Artist: Christie Lange
Working in pure white porcelain, artist Christie Lange explores the quiet, interconnected systems found throughout the natural world.
Her work 'Porcellana Biota' brings together biomorphic forms that sit somewhere between seed, spore and organism. Displayed in groups, these individual pieces begin to behave like a living community, reflecting the difference, adaptation and interconnection found in lichens, fungi and microbial life.
There’s a beautiful tension in Christie’s work between the fragility of porcelain and the resilience of the systems that inspire it. Look closely and subtle differences begin to emerge, revealing a larger ecology within the collection.
