Botanic Gardens Week - Botanic Gardens: Where Your Health Grows

  • Tasmanian Arboretum 46 Old Tramway Road Eugenana, TAS, 7310 Australia (map)

2026 Botanic Gardens Week celebrates the health and wellbeing benefits of botanic gardens and arboreta, recognising the now undeniable truth that nature is medicine.

Botanic gardens are uniquely placed to support health and wellbeing because they provide accessible spaces that promote physical activity, restore mental health, foster social connection, and strengthen our bond with nature – all of which are proven to increase overall wellbeing.

Psychologist Tracy Spencer-Lloyd and nature-connection educator Pat Fleming will summarise the findings from a recent 8-week Wellbeing pilot program held at the Arboretum and will present about wider research on nature connection benefits and how nature heals us.  We’ll look at ‘green prescribing’ where wellbeing in nature activities and programs are being prescribed by G.P.s and health practitioners across Canada, Europe, the UK and elsewhere, with well researched outcomes.

To be held at The Tasmanian Arboretum - Sat 23rd May 10.30am. Event attendance is $5 for Arboretum members, $15 for non-members including entrance to the Arboretum.

If you’d like to book to attend, please email: events@tasmanianarboretum.org.au. Do also invite any friends or family who might be interested to come too.
