Quilt Exhibition Celebrating Penguin 150 @ Penguin Uniting Church

  • Penguin Uniting Church 50 Main Road Penguin, TAS, 7316 Australia (map)

What a makeover! The Uniting Church - Penguin is undergoing a stunning transformation. Currently, the church is hosting a breathtaking quilt exhibition, featuring over 50 exquisite quilts. The pews are totally covered by a spectacular display of color, pattern, and craftsmanship - with the beautiful backdrop of stain-glassed windows!

Organized by Anne Bailey and Lynne Wickham, this exhibition is a must-attend event for anyone who appreciates textile art, from seasoned quilters like Susan from Forth, with 25 years of experience, to those just starting to explore the craft.

According to Susan, "every quilt has something to admire, whether it's the pattern, choice of color, the theme, the fabrics and quilting forces me to be still and focussed”.

To complement the exhibition's opening, a special display honoring the contribution of the Lette sisters to Penguin's history will be showcased, accompanied by a Devonshire tea for $5. Located in the church hall. Tomorrow. 10-4 pm

Quilting enthusiasts from far and wide are expected to attend these Penguin 150 Celebrations. Open again tomorrow. Pics don’t do the quilts justice.

For those interested in learning or developing quilting skills, the friendly Village Stitchers and Quilters meet every Tuesday in the church hall from 10-2 pm.
